Australia's Redress Scheme: Sex and The So-Called Celibate Church

When it comes to righting the wrongs of the past, the Catholic and Anglican Churches are last to take their place in the National Redress Scheme.

Q. Do you know why? A. The Church isn't as celibate as it claims to be!

As more investigations reveal the extent of pedophilia that took place while the Church had charge of children at various institutions over the last century, it's clear that few Clergy (if any at all) were indeed celibate. Historic child-sex abuse crimes are but only a precipice of sexual activity that has and does go on regularly in Church, in all churches.

Let me tell you, Priests f*ck! They really do!

Nuns bang too!

Brothers get down and dirty!

They all do it. They have to. I'm not being blasphemous or anti-religion by saying so, nor am I adding a sarcastic tone to these words.

Sex is not weird, it's bloody natural! I say good on 'em for breaking through, figuring that part out instead of enduring some bullshit masochistic routine that's not only impossible to maintain but downright psychologically damaging.

It's just bloody sad that some chose to do it with a little boy or girl when the urges inside them rose.

Children are easy targets. They can't defend themselves before, during or after an encounter like that. Who are people going to believe, a ratty, frequently disobedient child, or a well-respected Holy Man?

In my opinion, the Church's view on all-things-sex such as sexual attraction, sexual acts, sex therapy, celibacy, sex before marriage, homosexuality, group sex, polygamy - has been, at best, irrelevant and, at a worst, hurtful or damaging.

The Church knows nothing of sex.

God never said the Church was in charge of the bedroom, anyone's bedroom. God never said celibacy was required from anyone either.

It was one dickhead asexual Pope from the middle ages who decided no sex was best sex. I guess he figured if he wouldn't get any then no one else should either.

Up 'til that point, Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and Popes could bang away, all day. Yep. They could even marry. Mrs and Mr Priest could swing from the chandeliers before a service and then go right back to it once it was over.

Cool eh?

So Church, when it comes to sex, you can kiss my bony ass!

It's no wonder you attracted the nutters. Celibacy drew in the misfits who, for whatever reason, found celibacy an attractive lifestyle. Most likely, they were the anti-social types, the ones who struggled with sex, what it meant to touch someone and be touched lovingly.

Taking vow of celibacy acted like a sociopath magnet.

Some found their thoughts shameful, sinful. They became Priests to fight their inner filth. They prayed in Faith but it never stopped the urge.

Pray nature away?

I think not!

And then were those who thought entering the Priesthood would be an easy one -  forego sex but then found it wasn't, not because they were being tempted by the devil, it was because they were simply men and nature wanted its share.

If they weren't f*cked up at the start of the process they'd certainly get bent sometime later.

Hundred of years later, tens of thousands of blue-balled males found their ways into various parts of the community, holding their dicks while looking for suitable targets to shoot it at.

Not all of them shot the children. Some chose a more traditional path and found a willing adult instead. They've been dong it all along... still doing it today.

They'll shag lonely parishioners or poke each other for gratification. (Online dating sites allow more options outside their own Parish. I know of one Priest who carries two credit cards. One to get discounts as Father and the other to pay for hookers when he simply wants to be known as Mister.)

But there were those who wouldn't or couldn't find an adult to play with. They'd go down to their local orphanage and bounce off little Johnny and tiny Mary for their me-time.

Clergy live under the protection of it's misguided hierarchy. Why not, they're all into it. They've got to keep their urges under the table.

The pedophiles aren't called-out, punished, or expelled for what they do or have done. That's because all of them know how hard it is to remain celibate (what a joke) for life. They're simply moved around, allowed to become masters of their cruel ways in new places to a previously unexposed group of victims.

Yes, I'm leaning on the Catholic Church a little more - any group who claims to be celibate is lying.

That's where their celibacy rule falls apart. It doesn't exist. They aren't celibate at all. They're as sexual as you and I. They only pretend to act the part to keep the lies alive and the facade in its place.

And now the largest Church groups in Australia have to face the public by addressing a key element of their Christian ethos. It challenges the practicability of living a celibate lifestyle.

There's plenty of sex going on in Church but no one dares say anything about it.

The National Redress Scheme deals with the Church's sexual past but what about its sexual future? Expose perpetrators on a case-by-case situation is slow, continuing and good for those who suffered -  doesn't end what's causing the culture to thrive in the first place.

What the Church needs to do stop pretending to be celibate, allow open-sex and sexual discussion to occur for everyone (including Clergy) in the community and then get the hell out of our bedrooms, forever!

Church has nothing to do with SEX. They should have no opinion about SEX,  offer no education on SEX whatsoever. It knows nothing more about SEX than anyone else therefore it has no business getting involved in SEX.

Let SEX out of it's cage.

Celibacy has become the Church's unnecessary burden - as it did for us. (I included it in my novel)

It's time to remove the vow of celibacy now.

Redress for now but address celibacy for the future!
